Jawbone Move - a small fitness keychain with good features

Epigraph: “I want to grow above myself, but so far it’s only growing in breadth”

In September last year - then back on Habré - I wrote a great review of the Jawbone UP fitness bracelet . The text ended with the phrase “My new bracelet is now passing through customs. Until the end of the year, I am not very worried about its safety, as if something happens, I will be able to exchange it under warranty. “What will I do next is a big question, because I don’t see any obvious competitors to Jawbone.”

In fact, six months have passed and I still do not see competitors. Although in the comments they advised both Sony SmartBand and Xiaomi. Both had to hold in his hands, more precisely in his hands. Both seemed a little worse, but emotional attachment to a particular brand can affect it (and this despite the jambs with breakdowns of the first two bracelets, which, by the way, were successfully exchanged under warranty).

My old second-generation Jawbone Up is still alive, although I was a little sick of sticking it into the phone and synchronizing it with the plug from the headphones. So if something happens, I will replace it with a Jawbone UP24 or reluctantly save up my heart and a luxury Jawbone UP3. But that later. In the meantime, a slightly different problem has emerged - a child was born in our family and we stopped sleeping a little bit.

On the graph, the phases of deep sleep are marked in blue, i.e. periods of time when the body relaxes as much as possible, blue - the phases of "light sleep" and orange - the time when a person woke up.

Actually, not that Jawbone could somehow solve this issue - no smart alarm clock will help here. It's just that at some point it became very interesting to us - how much do we sleep at all? And how many kilometers we wind with a stroller in the park per day.

Since there was a frank currency crisis outside the window, I did not want to spend a lot of money on additional functions. In fact, we needed a simple fixation of information - so many have passed and so many have overslept. At the same time, it was desirable for the bracelet to live on charge for as long as possible, well, it could be hidden somewhere - not every girl agrees to constantly carry the same bracelet with her, besides looking like not the most elegant jewelry (this I'm not only talking about UPs, but about fitness bracelets in general).

As a result, they began to look at the clip from the fitbit, but the new Jawbone Move caught my eye and preference was given to him as more familiar and, most importantly, cheaper - at the time of purchase it cost a little less than 3000 rubles, now it has risen in price somewhere up to 4500.

No wires to charge. The bracelet, however, had to be bought separately.

So, Jawbone Move. The device is a small tablet tucked into a rubber clip. The tablet is powered by a CR-2032 battery and, according to the manufacturer, it lasts for six months. This is actually unrealistic cool. As a side effect, with the advent of the Move family, I stopped wanting smart watches. One thought that the device will have to be charged once every two days makes you very tense. This is another argument to the thesis that there are no competitors to specialized fitness bracelets yet. My second-generation Jawbone Up requires charging once every 8-10 days, and even this frequency has become a little crazy on the background of Move.

The black thing below is the key that unscrews the bottom with the battery. Need once every six months

Further, Move has one large function button that reports progress in walking (or sleeping) and switches the bracelet to sleep or wake mode. A little about the first - when starting synchronization with the bracelet via Bluetooth, you ask yourself the goal - how many steps and how many hours you want to sleep. The World Health Organization says that it is advisable to go through at least 10 thousand steps per day. So, we set the goal in the form of steps (for example, 12000) and now, if you click on the big button, a beautiful running LED light will point to the sector, indicating the number of steps taken. Those. if the light is in the lowest sector - you have walked 6,000 steps. It is as if you had a normal watch, but instead of time, the sectors would show your progress in daily walking or sleeping.

He took pictures at the beginning of the day, so there is no progress in walking yet - a diode “for 12 hours”.

Of course, all these values can be viewed on the phone (continuous wireless synchronization is carried out), but for me personally, the sectors turned out to be more convenient and informative.

Now for sleep. As mentioned above, the transition to sleep mode is a long press on the button. For a better fixation, Jawbone Move has a special bracelet. It is not included in the initial set, but for one and a half thousand rubles you can buy a set of three straps. We cooperated with a colleague at work and bought one set for two. Now I have black, and he has pink :)

Because of the bad - alas, Jawbone Move does not have a vibration alarm clock that wakes up in the easy sleep phase like older bracelets do (I wrote more about this irreplaceable chip in the Jawbone Up review ). And the bracelet, as for me, is frankly unsuccessful. He has a strange clasp, which strives to open in a dream. Of course, maybe this is exactly what I sleep like that - fussy and with hands under the pillow. But the fact remains. And in general, in this form, Move becomes somehow childish. Although in the clip he looks quite beautiful.

Of the good - despite the lack of an alarm clock, this is still the same high-quality sleep analyzer from jawbone. With beautiful and clear analytics and good tips. By the way, the bracelet now automatically leaves the "sleep" mode. At least for me it almost always switches itself.

At this point, an attentive reader of the review may ask a reasonable question - why did this tracker give up at all, and even with slightly castrated functionality? One thing you need to understand here is that most fitness trackers have little to do with sports and are needed more likely to give yourself a kick in the fifth point and finally force yourself to move. It is precisely for the realization of how little we move or how bad we sleep under the influence of alcohol, and all these fixations are needed. Therefore, if you need additional functions, for example, a smart alarm clock with phases, you can take older models, and most importantly, more expensive. And if for "try", because the bone is widening, it is something like Move.

    Now the results:
    Cons:
    - no vibration alarm
    - you need to buy a bracelet for accurate sleep fixation and it is strange

    Pros:
    + price compared to brothers
    + high accuracy
    + 6 months battery life
    + wireless synchronization
    + excellent activity analysis application

If you have questions about the bracelet, I’ll be happy to answer in the comments.
