New Mail - Inbox by Google
Last night (10/22/2014) Google announced the launch of a new service / project - Inbox . So far, you can try only on invites and it is very limited (when Gmail started, they gave 50 invites, now there were a maximum of 10, but they don’t give new ones at all). Invites should appear tomorrow or next week. I want to note right away - Gmail is not going anywhere and both projects will be developed in parallel. So those who don’t like the new Inbox - don’t worry, you can work in the old Gmail interface.

The Android application is made completely with the new material design concept . Very nice and comfortable. There have been many publications on this subject, so now about something else. I would like to consider a brief overview on the example of a web interface, which is also made in the style of material design:

In the upper left corner there is already a familiar menu for those who use Google+, for example. There you can find - Pending , Trash , Spam , Drafts , all your shortcuts and groups, etc.

Letters are divided automatically into groups - Forums , Travel , Finance , Alerts , etc. Logical and convenient enough - bank statements - in Finance, plane tickets - in Travel, alerts about private messages, etc. from social networks - in social networks, etc. These groups are also united by date - Today , Yesterday , this month and monthly previous. On the right in the upper corner of each group there is a checkmark that allows you to immediately mark all letters in the group as completed. Oh yes, about that ...

The main difference between Inbox and Gmail is that emails are a to-do list. Yes, something like that. Therefore, there are no reads, but there are completed ones . It is understood that most of the letters that come to you, you need to somehow respond - read, reply, forward, etc. In fact, each letter is a certain task that needs to be processed. That is the logic. And you need to understand that in this case, they try not to delete the letters (for some, this is a minus, but they won’t succeed in deleting them in one click). Letters are marked completed. In Gmail, an analogue is an archive. The letter disappears from the inbox, but it can always be found in completed or search.

Actually, what can be done with a particular letter? Immediately below the letter, you can write an answer (do not be afraid that the field looks like a single line, as soon as you start writing, To and the opportunity to expand the answer will appear) or forward. The main features are in the upper right corner - Pin , Snooze , Run and Move . I already wrote about Run above - analogue Archive. The letter is then hidden from the Inbox and can be found in the Done. So to speak - the letter has been read and processed. You can move to automatic groups, if you suddenly got the wrong one, or any of your shortcuts, but you can create a new one. The rest will dwell a little more.

If you pin a letter (the symbol of a clerical button), then the letter remains in the inbox and is not grouped with other letters, which is convenient if you want to mark some important letter. It will disappear if you execute or postpone (in this case, it will appear after the time comes to which it was postponed). All pinned can be viewed by the switch in the upper right corner of the interface.

A nice feature - letters can be put off. Let's say you are on the road and it’s inconvenient for you to answer an incoming letter right now or you don’t have the necessary information (you need to look at the working computer). What to do and how not to forget about this letter? In Gmail, you would mark it as unread and it would continue to hang out among the brothers in the inbox. Well, maybe they would put an Asterisk or Important. Inbox is more convenient. You can postpone any letter for a certain time (morning, day, evening, night, tomorrow), for an indefinite time , for a specific date / time or ... / * drum roll * / until you arrive at a certain place ! Yes, now you can postpone the letter until you come to work or home. Very very comfortable.
You can also make reminders right there. With the same capabilities, put them off until the right time / place. And yes, it can be noted that the reminder needs to be repeated with a certain frequency. “Water the cactus” every week at 9 p.m., for example. You can always see from the menu all the reminders that were set.
What kind of mailer if you can’t send letters? This is done simply - a red round button in the lower left corner:

From here you can write a letter or add a reminder. The top three circles - TOP-3 with whom you recently corresponded - you can immediately start writing a letter to them without filling in the To field. By clicking Write , a minimalistic window appears:

Everything is pretty standard here - you can attach files, add a Copy, slightly format the text of the letter, etc.
The mobile application repeats all the functionality described above. Pending letters and reminders pop up with notifications, as well as new letters. From notifications, you can immediately put Completed or Postpone.

It seems about the main functions told. If you forgot something, ask in the comments.
