Freedom to choose: freelance or large corporation

    In the ESF program, we are making really large projects, high rates of development often put us in a situation of resource shortage due to the fact that the hiring speed does not reach the speed of the ongoing changes.

    What decision does management make in this situation? It seemed that finding a partner is a standard answer that you won’t surprise anyone with, a “working” option - colleagues will answer, but it’s not so simple. When we overcome such formally significant long procedures as holding a tender and concluding an agreement, we find ourselves in a position of expectation with a low degree of predictability - no one is ready to work on a supply of on demand resources.

    And after the team gathers, we are faced with the difficulties of immersing the external vendor's employees in our everyday life and ceremonies. In the ESF program, all teams work in Agile, therefore, at the stage of inclusion of new participants, inevitably there is a process of agreeing on the conditions for joint development.

    We will not even write about all the delights of organizing access to super reliable and strictly confidential technological circuits.

    So we ask the question - is there a solution that will allow you to attract competent developers in the right amount in a short time?

    Discussed on the topic of freelance, will this be a solution to the resource problem for us?
    90% of our team are pessimistic in their answers and here are their arguments:

    1. The complexity of organizing access to the technological circuit for the developer - access is granted only if there is an official contract with the approval of the security service;

    2. To conclude a contract, any counterparty, who in this case is also freelance - the developer, must complete the competitive task and confirm his competencies. And only so, reviews and ratings on a known resource are not the legal basis for concluding a contractual relationship.

    3. Remuneration for honest work is tax deductible.

    Sounds serious, right?

    Freelance - it will probably be easier for the developer to execute small one-time orders with cash payment.

    What do you think?

    In search of a solution, we turned to foreign experience - the Gigsters service, with which companies can order the implementation of software and applications.
    The service developed as a startup in 2015. received a large investment from a large fund.
    Gigsters toolkit simplifies the customer’s task as much as possible - just send yours. task or voice the problem in a chat with a personal manager in order to quickly receive a proposal for implementation with the calculation of cost and timing.
    Perhaps the only inconvenience in communications is the significant difference in time zones.

    The resource potential of Gigsters is estimated at more than 1000 highly qualified specialists from different countries - developers, designers and business analysts, who, as you can read in open sources, go through a high dropout rate before they get to work in the project. It is important that these are not full-time employees, but specialists from different countries united by the idea, for some of which the resource is not the main place of work.

    It’s interesting, but in our country such experience is applicable, maybe you took part in similar initiatives?
