Scissor Adventures in the Digital World (a couple of lines about DevelStudio)

This note will be very short, even shorter than a digression to it. You probably saw Akira Kurosawa's film “Not Yet” ?! After all, the Japanese really know a lot about everything in terms of brevity and accuracy. This capacious “not yet” revolved in my head from the time when I heard and digested a dozen not-so-flattering comments about the development environment of DevelStudio 2012 ...

From the world of large and multifunctional programs, it is sometimes difficult to single out the very tool that only one task and at the same time will not make you wander around a large number of tabs in search of the desired button.

My simple question is to the universe: how to cut a fragment from a video? Sony Vegas or Adobe? Perfectly! Katana with mixer function.

There is a great Avidemux tool, but there are plenty of buttons there too. Of course, there is VirtualDub, and it is quite simple, but it does not cancel the search for instructions for use. When you turn to some practical task only from time to time, you often have to learn anew how to do it, and the tips in the search engine are our witnesses.

An almost ideal tool for the task, in my opinion, is ffmpeg, but there are so many graphic wrappers for it that the only solution remains to write your own.

I apologize in advance for deciding to share what happened.

In conclusion, regarding the development environment of DevelStudio 2012. I don’t want to fill in with Devel’s lawyers, I’ll just say that they underestimated the environment a little. Of course, this is not Qtcreator, and I will not even discuss the tools of large developers, since I had practically no business with them.

In my opinion, DevelStudio is perfect for the rapid development of graphical shells of single-command programs.
