JavaScript creator returns with new ad blocking browser

Brendan Eich, creator of the JavaScript programming language and one of the founders of Mozilla, is launching a new startup that will solve one of the main problems of the modern Internet. A new browser called Brave will block all ads by default.

According to Eich (most readers will probably agree with this) advertising is the scourge of the modern Internet. It is not only annoying, but also negatively affects the speed of the Internet. More and more users are turning to software that blocks ads.

Therefore, Brendan Eich proposed his own solution to this problem - a new web browser, which initially by default blocks all ad units, and then replaces it with programmable advertising, which the user can configure. Brave’s new browser will include ad-blocking software. Eich claims that this solution has two advantages: privacy and speed. Brave “keeps data anonymous,” says Brendan. In addition, it will work much faster than other browsers, because advertising significantly slows down the loading of pages. Having got rid of excess garbage, it is possible to provide 2-4 times faster browser operation. According to Eich, so that other web browsers can compare with Brave in terms of speed, "you need to install Ghostery, Disconnect.me, Adblock Plus and then do the configuration."

The most radical aspect of the new product is, perhaps, the introduction of new advertising. The browser will determine where the advertisement should be and fill it with programmed advertisement. Eyck says that in this way they can offer publishers more profitable deals, increasing their chances of survival .

The ads that Brave will show will be based on tags generated based on the user's history in the web browser (which will not be provided to advertisers). At the same time, users can customize their tags by adding and removing from at will.

Brave will be available on the most common Windows and OS X platforms for PC, Android, and iOS for mobile devices. The launch of the browser is scheduled for this year. The browser is developed on the basis of Chromium open source software, which also underlies the Google Chrome browser. The project has already raised $ 2.5 million in investment from business angels, but the search for funding is still ongoing.
