The increase in the number of budget places in IT specialties> = 30% in the 2016 academic year

    As a result of the joint work of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, admission control figures (CCP) for IT specialties for the 2016-2017 academic year were approved. Based on the results of the study by the relevant departments, the PCCs for IT specialties increased by 31% compared with the 2015–2016 academic year . Thus, over the past two years, the state order for IT professionals has grown by more than 70%, rising from 25 thousand to more than 42.5 thousand budget places.

    Such results were achieved during the joint work of the Ministry of Communications of Russia and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia on the implementation of the “ Strategy for the development of the information technology industry in the Russian Federation for 2014–2020 and for the long term until 2025”"Approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on November 1, 2013. The task of reducing staff shortages in the IT sector is among the main priorities of the strategy, a roadmap for its implementation and other documents determining the development of the industry.

    In addition, to solve the problem of staff shortages in the IT industry, the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, initiated the inclusion in 2015 of IT specialties in state-funded regional programs for the re-qualification of graduating specialists from other industries.
