From March 1, the "Police" intends to close objectionable sites without trial
Russia sent its report on the situation with the protection of intellectual property in the country to the US trade mission. Such reports are compiled annually by countries that do not adequately protect intellectual property. The document emphasized that a great and complex work has been done to improve the protection of intellectual property. Enhanced IP legislation and its application.
In particular, high-profile criminal cases against users of the VKontakte network, the closure of the largest torrent trackers: torrents.ru, interfilm.ru and puzkarapuz.org, as well as the mp3 site zaycev.net were cited among Russia's merits. At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development complains that 70% of pirated sites are technically located outside the territory of Russia - outside the area of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Separately, it was emphasized that the fight against piracy will be facilitated with the entry into force of the Law "On Police" on March 1, which will give police officers the right to close sites "at the request of the management of hosting companies", without waiting for a court decision.
Representatives of Yandex and Mail.ru have so far refrained from commenting on innovations in the law.
