ZeptoLab Code Rush 2015 is close

    Hello to the Hawkravers!

In 2014, we held our first joint sports programming contest with Codeforces , which we wrote about here .

Briefly about how it was: The

contest consisted of 6 tasks, it took 2.5 hours to solve (you can familiarize yourself with the tasks of the last year and even try your hand at solving them here ).
Of course, even at a purely development event, we remained true to ourselves, so all the tasks were invented based on our games, and, of course, we carefully illustrated them:

For the first time in the history of Codeforces, more than 2148 people took part in the contest simultaneously (more than 4600 (!) Were registered from all over the world. By the way, the first 3 places were taken by developers from Russia, which is good news. Some of them even came to pick up prizes to the office, where they were waiting for a mini-tour and the highlight of the program: of course, playing the giant Cut The Rope and our standard corporate “landscaping” at the entrance (landscaping, we mean handing out a welcome-kit full of funny gizmos of our corporate green color) .

And some lucky ones even more: they stayed with us a little longer than just on an excursion, and still delight us with their working successes. Below are a couple of thoughts from one of them, Grisha N. ( WhiteCrow ):

“Initially, I came for candy (a joke), but now, if I share my impressions, the first thing that matters is that I can be myself to the end here. In addition, at Zeptolab, managers set tasks taking into account the capabilities of each developer, including in front of me. And when the leader is also “in the subject” of algorithms, I have where to turn around. It turned out that I became a sort of client-side back-end developer, which, in fact, I wanted. Yes, I know some data structures that are unlikely to be useful in Zeptolab soon (they would be more useful, for example, in the development of a search engine); I practically do not turn to this part of my knowledge in my daily work. But these skills are useful to me on internal algorithmic contests :) About the working moments: my last task was to improve the packaging of atlases when preparing game resources - a well-known NP-difficult task. I managed to achieve significant successes: to improve the well-known and best for 2013 according to different metrics algorithms. As a result, the memory consumption in all of our game projects decreased by megabytes, and the memory-limit reserve appeared in assemblies. With the appetite of our artists, I think this is not for long :) Perhaps we will publish my work at one of the upcoming conferences. In general, sports programming skills are very much appreciated here, and in my experience, in other companies they attach insufficient importance. ” and the assemblies have a memory-limit margin. Well, the purpose of this post to inform you, dear developers, is this: on

April 4th (Saturday) we launch the second contest together with Codeforces.

We are already working hard to surprise you with non-trivial tasks again and to please us with no less awesome prizes than in the last contest:

By the way, except for participating in the contest, there is no way to snatch such a vest. The vests are cool.

Well, as before: the one who shows good results in the competition will have the opportunity to get to us according to a simplified scheme. On zeptoteam.ru - about what it means to be part of ZeptoTeam. We come into contact with the proposal ourselves.

The championship will be held in one round. Competition format -according to Codeforces rules .

The round will be rated in the Codeforces system and common for both divisions. For participants who have not previously participated in Codeforces championships, we recommend registering on the site in advance (this can be done through open OpenID, Gmail or VKontakte accounts) and sorting out the system: you can take virtual part in one of the past competitions.
Date and time: April 4, 2015 (Saturday), time: 19-30 - 22-00 in Moscow.

In order to participate in ZeptoLab Code Rush 2015, you will need to register .
Registration will open no later than April 2 from 12-00 and will last until April 4, 19-25.

Questions about the championship, again, leave in the comments on the site Codeforces.ru.
