    3DO Interactive Multiplayer

In 1993, 3DO came out, which was released by Panasonic, Sanyo, Creative and Goldstar. Games for the console were sold on discs.

The cost of the console is $ 699.95 at the time of release, that is, it was more expensive than all the other consoles of this generation, including the best-selling PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn. They released the prefix for only three years.

It was on 3DO that the game The Need For Speed first appeared.

    Amiga cd32

The characteristics of the Amiga C32 set-top box released in the same year were similar to those of an Amiga 1200 computer. The set-top box could be upgraded to a full-fledged computer, adding a keyboard, mouse and hard drive.

Just a month after the console came out, Commodore announced the completion of its sales and warranty service. And in the USA, the prefix was not sold at all, because the company had overdue payments for the use of the Cad Track patent.

    The world's first 32-bit console.

    Atari jaguar

Released in 1993, the Atari Jaguar was not able to fight the most popular monsters of the fifth generation. Firstly, the carrier is again a cartridge, not a very convenient thing. Secondly, the joystick is of very dubious convenience. Thirdly, low quality games.

A total of about 500,000 consoles have been sold.

In this selection of commercials, you can check out the gameplay, including Doom.

Here the topic of mathematics is revealed: it explains why the 64-bit Jaguar is better than other consoles.

    Casio loopy

Casio's 32-bit set-top box for girls of preschool and primary school age suddenly allowed to print stickers - you could draw your own manga! And this thing worked on cartridges. One of the oddities is the lack of a port for the second joystick, that is, it was a kind of forever alone prefix. But there was a mouse port with which you could do something there in two games. She was born in 1995 and very soon left this world.

In total, ten games were released for this miracle console, including a life simulator, a date simulator and software for creating astrological forecasts. Kawaii!

    Sega saturn

Now the most delicious! In November 1994, the Sega Saturn was launched. It is this prefix that is the first of three fifth-generation consoles that fought a ruthless struggle for the consumer, while throwing all the aforementioned consoles out of the market.

Already on launch day in Japan sold 170 thousand consoles. Atari Jaguar have sold only 500,000 in history - the difference is very noticeable.

    Sony PlayStation

Who played - he will understand:

Sony a month after the release of Sega Saturn launches the first PlayStation. The prefix immediately showed everyone where the crayfish hibernate - it broke into the market, which Nintendo and Sega shared among themselves, and immediately bit off a huge piece of it. Think about the figure: 100 million consoles were sold in 11 years of production of the console. And she was the best-selling set-top box until she was replaced by PlayStation 2 on this post. Bonus: PlayStation could be used as an audio and video CD player! What I did.

One of the most popular games for the PlayStation is Resident Evil 2. Awesome toy. I love her as well as Silent Hill.

PlayStation Official Magazine exists separately from Sony. This is one of the covers of 1998. There are two wonderful toys here: Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot. By the way, in 2007, 7918 games and other software for the PlayStation were released.

The third whale of the fifth generation console war - Nintendo 64 - came out later than all, in 1996. Unlike the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, it was still on cartridges.

The most popular game for the Nintendo 64 was Super Mario 64. It was this game that was first released for the console. In general, there are already very few developers who would like to make games on cartridges. Disks in production were cheaper and had more capacity.

However, by 1998, the set-top box took second place after the Sony PlayStation in sales, and by the end of next year Nintendo released a drive for the set-top box, so that it was possible to play magneto-optical discs.
