Pole built a musical instrument designed by Leonardo da Vinci (+ video performance)
It is difficult to define this news in any hub, and it is not quite suitable for Habr, however, the news deserves our attention. The thing is that the great Leonardo da Vinci once designed a musical instrument, which could be an interesting addition to the instruments of classical music. But the instrument was not built during the life of the great thinker, nor, for a very long period of time, after his death.
And only many centuries later, a Pole named Slawomir Zubrzycki recreated this instrument in reality. The instrument itself is a cross between a piano and a cello, in any case, as the Polish master claims.
Indeed, this instrument can be described as a keyboard-string-bow. Outwardly, everything seems to be like a piano, but a feature is hidden inside. Namely - four rotating wheels, on the rim of which horse hair is pulled. The wheels constantly rotate, thanks to the foot pedal on which the musician must step. And when you click on a certain key of the tool, a string is lowered onto the wheel, about which horse hair rubs.
The sound is quite interesting, and below you can listen to several musical compositions performed by the creator of the instrument.
The tool is very complex, it took 5000 hours to recreate it according to the Da Vinci project. The instrument is called Viola Organista.
