The number of dangerous domains increased by 67%

Architelos recently published a new domain zone security report. Research was conducted using the NameSentry technology developed by her. The main source of information was various block lists that included domains containing phishing, viruses, spam, and other malicious information.

According to the results of the study, it turned out that, compared with January of this year, the number of potentially dangerous domains increased by 67%. This means that at least 5.5% of the new domains during this period were registered with dishonest intentions.

Architelos CEO John Matson explains this by increasing the activity of scammers. They register new domains shortly after their old domains fall into block lists.

As a result of the activation of fraudsters, the security indicators of individual domain zones also decreased. An excellent level of security (less than 100 violations per million domains) was noted in only four of the 72 zones examined: .tel, .nz, .pt and .fi.

In most domain zones (42 out of 72), a good level of security was noted (100-1000 violations). Among them are the domains .xxx, .eu, .ws, .tk. Note also that this group also included the Russian Cyrillic domain - .РФ.

In 16 domains, the security level was found to be satisfactory (1000-10000 violations). The largest domain zones - .com, .net, .org., .De, .cn and a number of others fell into this group.

As in the previous report, seven domain zones were marked as potentially dangerous (more than 10,000 violations per million domains). Unfortunately .ru domain turned out to be one of the most dangerous (more than 21,000 violations). Also .mobi, .biz, .info and .us zones were included in this group. The
