Smart watches - obviously, but not available

Smartwatch

The idea of smart watches has been flying in the air for a long time. Indeed, how convenient it would be to get additional functions in such a familiar device as a watch. The concept became even more popular when Apple released its “watch'e watch” iPod Nano. What did we see after that? A wave of weird devices that are called smart watches. Cookoo, Pebble, Sony LiveView & Smartwatch. All these devices seemed somehow unfinished and never gained popularity. Let's try to understand the reasons for the ideological failure of these products.image
Reason One - Design
Despite the fact that the watch is an accessory that has adorned its owners for decades, the developers of the products listed above have relied on pseudo-functionality, leaving the watch design behind. Pebble and SmartWatch look unnatural on the hand and do not decorate its owner. With this approach, the majority of the "negikovskoy" audience, and even more so the female half, were eliminated.
Reason Two - Functionality
For unknown reasons, smartwatch developers are now concentrating on notifications, as the main functionality of SmartWatch. This is especially noticeable in the product from Cookoo. Of course, notifications are important in such devices, but the concept of wearable electronics provides for much wider use. What is required of smartwatch developers is to build Google Now on the wrist. A convenient interface solution that can provide access to the information you need at the moment, and, of course, allowing you to enter any information into the clock itself using the voice input that has become so popular. The concept of wearable electronics in the case of smart watches, and in the case of Google Glass differs slightly, developers should only take into account the achievements of Google in their products. Just think about it,
Reason Three - Quality
Products from current manufacturers of smart watches do not differ in special workmanship and materials. Obviously, a device that is closer to a person than even his favorite smartphone should provide the most comfortable “User Experience”.
Total
As you can see, we have not yet seen a relative implementation of the concept of smart watches. The prospects for wearable electronics are huge, and watches are an important part of putting this concept into practice. The question remains open - Who will launch the “real product” first - Google? Apple? Microsoft?
