    1. You can do one thing, but better than anyone

    When you are just starting to develop a new game, you have an advantage - this is a lot of possibilities. But this is also your misfortune. Where to begin? Which way to choose? There can be many crazy ideas, especially if you generate them in a fun company with a keg of beer. But if you then try to implement at least one of them, there is a chance to make a very expensive and complex project.

    At that time, our mistake was one: we did not ask ourselves the main question: “What makes our game different from others? Special? Why is she better than others? ” And this is the main goal: to find the answer to this question and convey it to the team.

    2. It all starts with a fan

    Defining this phenomenon is quite difficult. But when you play, its presence or absence is clearly felt. The game should be interesting and entertaining. If you yourself do not like to play, then do not pretend that it is interesting, do not deceive yourself. Correct, change everything that you consider necessary. Fan is sure to come.

    At the same time, many make a mistake, believing that if you add history, graphics and music, then it will become more interesting to play. Nothing like this. All this is secondary and is only an addition. The game itself must create a fan.

    3. Define the target audience

    To the question "Who is your game for?" the answer “At all” is not accepted. The fact is that today the game audience is so diverse that the chance to find your audience appears only when you can segment users.

    Let's say your audience is mobile device users. This means that the user's attention must be won from the first seconds. Hardcore shooter? So, design and management should be at the highest level. Or for example, a social game for Facebook: in this situation, the main thing is virality.

    4. Make the game yourself

    By investing yourself, your interests and personal experience in the game, you are putting your soul into the project. Then the game will be special, unique, which means it will show a good result.
