Today Valve has announced a beta version of the product, which over the past 7 years has been used and developed to create various videos produced by the company, and now is used to create a film and is available to everyone (by invitation from valve itself).

Here’s what they write about it themselves. creators:
Source Filmmaker (SFM) is a video creation utility that was created and used by us to make videos inside the Source game engine. SFM available all the resources that are available and the game from which SFM is launched. Using the power of modern gaming PCs, SFM allows storytellers to work in an “what I see is what I get” environment and see exactly the same as the final audience. SFM greatly simplifies the creation of videos as it combines everything that is needed to obtain a high-quality product - render, video editor, mocap editor, sound editor and more. And we release it for free for everyone (beta is currently available by invitation to receive which you can subscribe to the program’s website using steam . - Note translator) because we believe that the community will again create many great things, just like when we released some parts of our internal tools last time (source sdk, particle editor. - Approx. translator ).

And finally, a short video in which we describe in more detail about the possibilities of source filmmaker:
