Ubuntu slides to 4th place in popularity
Today this picture caught my eye and, to be honest, I was a little upset. I, like many probably, have long noticed a tendency to reduce the popularity of Ubuntu, but so far they have been talking in narrow IT circles, and today they are already talking about it on news sites. After the release of Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, where Unity was installed by default, the share of popularity in the distribution market began to decline and since last year fell by 47%. Of course, Ubuntu's rating has been reduced before that, but not as much as after the release in April 2011 of Natty Narwhal. But the popularity of Mint has grown by 105%. They played out with their Unity. But I want to believe that this crash will not last long, the developers of Ubuntu will analyze their mistakes, our preferences, take them into account in future releases and she will again be in 1st place.
UPDAfter a debate about the veracity of this graph, I proposed the idea of conducting a survey, which was completed by appplemac . What Linux distributions do you use on desktops? . Results differ from data. But let's not forget that every opinion has a right to exist.
