Smozzy app for Android: surf the Internet without the Internet
Not so long ago, a new application, Smozzy , that allows you to roam the network without using the mobile Internet. It works quite simply: a user request is sent to the Smozzy server via SMS, and the response is packed into an archive, encoded in PNG, and then sent back via MMS. Unfortunately, now it works only in T-Mobile, and, obviously, you need to have an unlimited tariff for SMS / MMS. Also, the disadvantage is the fact that messages are not encrypted in any way. In addition, there is a risk that T-Mobile will actively struggle with the application, since it greatly violates the alleged use-cases of their tariff plans.
By the way, the idea itself is not very new: they used to talk about SiteonMobile technology [the site is unavailable at the time of this writing]
