Futuristic Spherical Flying Object
Engineer Fumiyuki Sato from the Institute of Technical Research and Development under the Ministry of Defense of Japan constructed an unusual robot the size of a basketball. It is able to stay in one place and rotate around its axis for 8 minutes, and when moving it develops a speed of up to 60 km / h with little noise.
The prototype of a futuristic circular flying object (Futuristic Circular Flying Object) is assembled from parts that are sold in a regular store. The ball consists of 8 rudders, 16 spoilers and three gyroscopic sensors, plus a video camera. The total cost of components does not exceed $ 1400, and the weight of the structure is 348 g.
According to the inventor, such devices can be used for stationary video shooting: for example, shooting interviews on television or video shooting during natural disasters, as well as for tracking terrorist groups.
