Soon after the announcement on the corporate blog of Yota devices One and Many , the devices fell into my hands. Boomburum overtook me a bit with the review - at that time I was just finishing digging into the insides of Many.

What you see before the kat is the only thing that I managed to do with the monolithic-looking Many, and then, with the help of the sharp- sighted Pingi .
I spun the device like a wolf bun in a famous joke and did not know how to approach him. After which my son invited me under the table in the kitchen, we examined him together and came to the conclusion that this was not a telephone (although he said ale-ale in it).
The picture of the “arrogant face” that I borrowed from Burum particularly irritated me, and it turned out that this was the key, The Keeeeey, as Agent Smith said.
If you remove the switch to the position when the smile is not visible, a gap appears, which allows using the lever method to remove the end cap:
After that, the contents are pushed out of the case, and further to the prepared person, everything is intuitively clear.
On the left is the plastic cover of the printed circuit board, in the middle there is a cable with LEDs that highlight the main logo and make up the end information line. On the right is the wrong side of the USB - microUSB connector (which you did not need to disassemble at all).

Pay attention to two mini-coaxial connectors, the first one for Wimax, the second for Wi-Fi.
In appearance - it’s very simple, but always so when comparing devices of different generations:
The new generation SOC allowed us to simplify the PCB to the maximum, just think, before there were two of them at all!

Well, since the mini-coaxial connectors are found inside, I cannot help connecting to them, taking a couple from my strategic stock of pigtails.
I did not even try to fix the connectors on the case, I even had to reluctantly make a hole in the cable case with reluctance. It is very beautiful, and I’m not even afraid of the word, it’s perfect.
To answer the question later, which WiMax is which, which Wi-Fi, I marked the first varnish of my cherished wife:
I categorically do not recommend this “spare part” to be taken out during parsing, to be inserted back so that at least something does not shine. Cursing my curvature, I reassured myself that without extra illumination I would get extra minutes of uptime. So this nice accessory has remained for me as a keepsake, maybe next year I’ll “light it up”.
Without taking R&D costs into account, Many are undoubtedly cheaper to manufacture than Egg.
New solutions in low power design allowed (with a decrease in battery capacity from 2800mAh to 1500 mAh) to significantly increase battery life.
I started downloading the Ubuntu distribution at> 800kB per second, which is almost laboratory speed. External antennas could not increase it, only the signal-to-noise ratio improved.
The next day, in a busy office, I tested Many in battle.
Since Yota Many is equipped with an integrated antenna with a modest (2-3 dBi) and good amplifier (23 dBm), I tried the TRENDnet antenna as my champion in receiving Wimax from compact Wi-Fi antennas, which I wrote about in the article “Antenna Testing” Wi-Fi for WiMax reception »
Of course, to look inside and satisfy interest is, in itself, a sufficient reason for this. However, let's not forget that the Egg is being discontinued, and perhaps to someone outside the city, a few dB will not be superfluous.
The author does not call for self-modification of Yota devices. Many, when used as intended, the device is ideal. Such actions leadto the development of fine motor skills, intelligence, and increased self-esteem can lead to equipment failure, injuries of varying severity, and clearly deprive the manufacturer of a guarantee. Attempts to repeat them are done at your own peril and risk.
Neither pigtails nor an external antenna are included.
PS It can be assumed that the manufacturer, after viewing this review, will probably decide to glue the devices so that they cannot be opened so simply.
