Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Released

Red Hat announces the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 .

The kernel is 2.6.32 with backports from newer versions. For web developers, the most noticeable thing is that the latest versions of the popular software finally appeared in the distribution kit - PHP 5.3 (was 5.1), Python 2.6 (was 2.4), MySQL 5.1 (was 5.0), PostgreSQL 8.4 (was 8.1). Ext4 file system now has Production status instead of Experimental.

As a virtualization system, RHEL 6 uses KVM. Guest systems on Xen can use the kernel with pv_ops, but working as dom0 (host) is no longer possible, which is a pity.

On OpenNET, you can read a detailed overview of what the new version is good for.

We look forward to the CentOS 6.
