CloudUSB: a computer in your pocket

Do you want your computer along with software and files to always be with you and reliably protected even in case of loss? Automatic online backup using strong encryption? You do not need to carry a laptop with you, just one flash drive.

The CloudUSB system is a USB flash drive with the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS operating system and all user settings, a Dropbox folder for files plus a program for automatic backup with double password protection.

The data is encrypted by the EncFS module , so that it is stored in encrypted form both on a flash drive and in Dropbox.

Insert a flash drive into any computer - and get a native environment with all the files. A 4+ GB drive is recommended, although everything will work even on two. Dropbox hosting is free up to a limit of 2 GB.

On this page you can download an ISO-image (about 1 GB), a script for copying it to a USB flash drive, as well as a script for creating your own CloudUSB ISO from scratch. The default username and password are cloudusb .
