There is no need to edit anything at the conservatory. Everything will correct itself

    What prevents sites from being expensive, and being more honest with artists?
    I decided to write this post after reading the publication of Stepan , my market colleague.
    But why is everything in our market so terrible from the point of view of the client? He comes, wants, pays, believes and hopes - he receives what I wrote. Why is it a lottery for a client?

    The described problems are relevant for any market with a low entry threshold.
    I'm not sure that in the capitals, or in the regions developed in terms of web technologies, it was somehow different. The market is growing, the customer is becoming more competent, the contractor is more responsible.
    I’ll speak specifically about the Volgograd market, for which we are creating websites , but I’m sure that what I described also applies to many regions.

    Customer is not to blame

    Problem: Most Customers have not heard anything about creating sites. They are not aware of pricing, the stages of the creation of the site, the tasks that the site can solve. They believe that they need a site, but do not understand why.

    Customer side : he knows how to count money. He understands that cheap = bad. But what is cheap? After all, the concept is rather relative. If for the first time they call him the price of 15 rubles for a phone, after a couple of times 20 rubles, and finally, 50 rubles. Without the necessary skills, it is difficult for him to understand the difference. Both there and there site, so why pay more ?! So many people think.

    Solution : educate people, make them need your services, build trust.

    How? It's easier than it sounds! Free workshops. For example, in the winter of 2010, Sergey Kotyrev ( kotyrev ) from UMI.CMS and I held a small seminar in Volgograd on the topic of Internet business. After processing the seminar participants, it turned out that 85% of them:
    • they didn’t understand that they SO can easily manage information on the site, and in principle they can do without the help of programmers!
    • they were surprised that at least 3 specialists who do their job not for food work on the site;
    • SEO is a service that requires a monthly investment. That we do not pay money to search engines for positions;
    • learned what contextual advertising is.
    • found other search engines except Yandex.

    We were thanked for giving them this information for free, thanks for putting everything on the shelves!

    Is it funny This is normal! But how do people know about all this. In every corporate environment, an IT employee is almost a god, and if he says that he should do this, no one will argue. Nobody cares that he is a system administrator of a server with an accounting database, and he was engaged in design at drawing lessons at school.

    Our local web studios do not particularly invest in customer training, seminars, but in vain. Hence the disappointment, misunderstanding, conflicts.

    We ourselves must train the customer to work with us!We, representatives of the Contractor’s side, are able to solve the customer’s unpreparedness problem. It is in our interests to train, to do it for free. We shape the market, guide it, develop it, we can do it.

    I am a web studio!

    Let me be ashamed if I am wrong, but I think that the business of web studios, at least in the city of Volgograd, is a business that has grown out of a hobby. There were NO business plans, investments, payback calculations, development plans and other things!

    Just a hobby began to be profitable.

    Hence the problem of a large number of like_web_studios, which constitute real competition, because it is difficult for the customer to understand where he is served well and where he is poor, he does not know how to do this.

    How is created as a web studio?

    Anyone who even understands the logic of applications can learn the language for web development and proudly be called “Web programmer”, who can establish his own “studio”, consisting of one.

    Entry threshold is extremely low:
    • 300 - 500 rubles per book, Luke Welling and Laura Thompson for example.
    • 2 weeks of study.
    • 500 rub Internet anlim.
    • 130 rub Cell phone number and handset, where to insert the SIM card.
    • 5 $ per month for hosting.
    • $ 100-150 per month per context or a little SEO.

    The first self-written engines / libraries appear, albeit curves, albeit undocumented, but who needs it !? “In my code I will fix and modify anything in a couple of seconds!”

    That's it! You are a web development market player. You compete and pull demand for yourself.

    Due to such simplicity, many novice developers who have tried their hand at the first connections with the MySQL server, creating photo galleries, message boards, which are described in books, are ready to rush to develop a commercial site with burning eyes! Experience 0, but we will get involved in the battle, and the war will show the way!

    In fact, in order to build simple sites, nothing more is needed, but alas, not without experience.

    Total: do not be surprised, beginners come, step on the first rake, learn, step on the second, adapt again, eventually grow smarter, start to conduct their business more seriously. So professionals will appear. But before that: poor service, dissatisfied customers, crooked sites, dumping in the market and market slowdown in development.
