Discontinued Fedora 11 Support

Fedora LogoPaul Fields, Fedora developer and Red Hat employee, has announced the discontinuation of Fedora 11, known as Leonidas.

Released in early June 2009, Fedora 11 included the Linux kernel 2.6.29, a new design and a significant number of software updates, such as OpenOffice 3.1 and the prerelease version of Firefox 3.5.

Leonidas will no longer receive updates, including security updates and critical bug fixes. Developers strongly recommend that users of Fedora 11 upgrade to Fedora 12 or 13 to continue receiving updates.

The release cycle for each version of Fedora is usually relatively short; a new version is released approximately every six months. According to current policies, maintenance on the penultimate release ends one month after the last release, in this case Fedora 13 .
