Non-press release real review of Android communicator LG GT540

Just yesterday I purchased my first Android communicator LG GT 540 Optimus. Here I get distracted and tell a little prehistory: the fact is that my HTC P3400 lasted 2 years and began to throw out the forts with a hang, a sensor, and receiving calls. There was a need to buy a new device. Since the budget was very, very limited, I had to choose not from a large number of devices. The requirements were not so complicated: a communicator, Wi-Fi, a touchscreen, 3G, an RAM of more than 64 mb, a screen of more than 240 * 320, and an OS either WM or Android (I don’t like chronically Symbian). Among the current set of communicators of all sorts, two candidates were selected: RoverPC Pro G7 (9980р Svyaznoy) and thanks to Olapka’s advice LG GT540 (8990р Euroset). In general, I felt, looked at both devices from all sides, and I looked at them for a very long time and tediously, A big hello to the seller from Euroset for patience, I decided on LG. So let's get started ...

Repeating all the characteristics makes no sense, they are already so full on the network. The only thing I note is the processor and ram, since I didn’t find one or the other on the network until I put benchmarks in the already purchased device. Processor 600Mhz, ram 159 Mb. It is strange that the manufacturer tried to hide these facts. In appearance, the device turned out to be much nicer in life than in the photo. I remember my first reaction by looking at the official pictures: well, and a freak !!! But in reality, the communicator LG GT540 turned out to be a very nice looking and touch device. Of course, there is not enough soft plastic, it is only on the side inserts, but this is not critical. The assembly is high-quality, tight, does not creak, does not toss and turn. The lid fits snugly to the rest of the housing.

The screen after my HTC just pleases the eye. It’s juicy (I couldn’t convey this in the pictures), it’s bright, but of course it fades in the sun and you need to set the brightness to maximum.

The Android 1.6 platform, manufacturers have already hinted at the short release update to 2.1. There is nothing to talk about the OS, it has already been written and so much. Subjectively, I’ll say that nothing slowed down on this hardware, due to hardware support DivX played video perfectly. I instructed the programs on the first day of use, while everyone was running. It’s good that there are a lot of free applications in the Market. The only program that started only once is the LJ client - LJBeetle. Incredibly pleased with the full complication of Google services since I use them very actively, almost everyone))).

It's too early to judge the battery. I note that the battery is a new generation, lithium-polymer, and not lithium-ion. At the moment, after 9 hours of active use of Wi-Fi, GPS and many programs (you know, a fresh purchase), the charge is at the level of 30%. Later I will add impressions about the battery.

Among the shortcomings: in my opinion, a frail slot for a microSD card, although if it is not often removed, inserted, then it is certainly normal; the speaker wheezes at maximum volume, you can’t say that it is strong, but you can still hear it; inconvenient circular switching layout on the keyboard.

I am very pleased with the purchase, for the money LG GT540 is a good device.
