PingWi Typography (PWT) Free Font Open Beta Starts

On LOR ( Linux.org.Ru ) today there was news that PingWin Software ( PingWinSoft.Ru ) published an announcement about the beginning of open beta testing of its free font package PingWi Typography (PWT), created since 2009 specifically to solve problems with distortion of formatting of documents created by means of MS Office when opening these documents in OpenOffice.org.

Headsets included in the PWT package were developed “from scratch” as metric analogues of the Windows fonts Tahoma, Arial, Courier, Verdana and Times New Roman (and are called in the same way: PWT Tahion, PWT Arion, PWT Courant, PWT Verde, PWT Timer) ; In addition, PWT fonts are designed to improve the display of text on low-resolution monitors.

PWT test font package is distributed under a special free license . Headsets are in TTF format inside a ZIP archive .

Please note: in the word “PingWi” there is no final letter “n”, but this is not a typo, it is intended.

The final release of the font package is scheduled for September 2010.
