Opera Mobile Report: CIS statistics

    The next Opera mobile report was released, based on statistics on the use of Opera Mini. This April report contains two key points: the use of Opera Mini on iPhones and detailed information on the CIS. But first, a few general numbers.

    The number of users in the world reached 58.9 million. This is 6.6% more than in March, and 152% compared with April last year.

    Opera Mini users viewed more than 26.3 billion web pages, which is 1.6% more than in March 2010 and 203% in April last year.

    Last month, Opera Mini users generated 398 million MB of data (0.6% more than in March), and traffic grew by 164% over the year.

    TOP 10 countries by the number of users: Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, USA, South Africa, Nigeria, Vietnam and the United Kingdom.

    As for the iPhone, the numbers are as follows.

    Between April 13 and 30, 2.6 million Apple mobile phone owners became users of Opera Mini for iPhone.

    In April, the Apple iPhone became the third most popular device among Opera Mini users worldwide. The United States moved from 8th to 6th position in the list of Top 10 countries in terms of the number of users of this mobile browser.

    The United States has become the largest region in terms of users of the Opera Mini version for iPhone. In turn, the device from Apple has become the most popular among users of a mobile browser in the United States, having displaced BlackBerry from the leading position. The UK is the fourth largest Opera Mini for iPhone users.

    Russia came in seventh in the number of users of Opera Mini for iPhone, but the iPhone was not included in the Top 10 most popular phones for using a browser in Russia.

    Now let's see what happens in the CIS.

    TOP-11 countries by the number of Opera Mini users: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

    From April 2009 to April 2010, the number of web pages viewed in the CIS countries grew by 84%, the number of users - by 63%, and the transmitted data - by 97%.

    Finally, the fashion for Opera Mini reached the Central Asian republics. Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan have become leaders in the growth of web pages viewed using Opera Mini (by 508,484.1% and 663.9% per year, respectively). In these two countries, the number of unique users also increased most rapidly - by 194,769.2% and 551.2% per year, respectively. But the leader in the number of web pages viewed by an average user was Armenia - 1085 per month.

    The most visited web resources in the CIS using Opera Mini (in descending order of unique visitors): Vkontakte, Mail.ru, Odnoklassniki, Yandex and Google. As before, Opera Mini users in the CIS prefer Nokia, Sony Erricsson and Samsung phones.
