Flattr Micropayment System Overview

Not so long ago, an interesting project from one of the creators of The Pirate Bay for micropayment was covered on the hub. As soon as this project was announced, it seemed to me internet and I immediately requested an invite, and finally, after a few months of waiting, he finally came :)

I recall that Flattr is a micropayment system that allows you to support the author of the content with money.

I would like to make a short review of this definitely interesting service.

Interface

And so, here we are already registered and logged in and we are presented with a convenient list of all the popular news, it can be ordinary articles as well as pictures, audio and video recordings, and even software, the only condition is that you must be the author of the content

The interface seemed very pleasant to me

There is a convenient sorting by category and time of adding content. For example, you can see only the video category and only those videos that have been added in the last 24 hours.

Wrong will not be noted a convenient system for commenting on content, it seems like nothing special, a trifle, but nice :)

Payment

But in order to become a full member of this small but fairly friendly community, we need to do what? That's right, pay money.

And so, we go to Dashboard and we are politely warned that the account is not active until you download the money.


We select the amount, and ...



We are redirected to PayPal. As I understand it, PayPal is the only supported payment method so far, which, quite reasonably, cannot but outrage some hawkers. However, I had no problems with payment and the payment passed without any problems in 1 minute :)

And now we already have the money in the account.


It seemed a little strange to me that from 2 €, only 1.58 € reached Flattr, who took everything else? Really PayPal?

Anyway. We go to the content we like and poke on the Flattr button, thus thanking the author for interesting content.

Conclusion

The system of work is such that if you clicked on the Flattr button only 1 time, then at the end of the month, 100% of the amount downloaded by you goes to this author, if 2 then 50/50 is distributed, and so on.

If you downloaded the money but for the whole month you have never clicked a button, then the whole amount goes to charity.

To summarize, I want to say that the idea and implementation of the project is at the highest level and that it is quite possible that the system will be interesting to foreigners, but I strongly doubt that {country_name}, many people will voluntarily give money for the content they like ...
