Flash drive from precious wood

Inspired by recent articles about the manufacture of flash drives by hand, I decided to take a chance and test the patience of the Habrovsk people. The desire to make a case appeared a long time ago, but all hands did not reach. And now, armed with a rosewood, mahogany, sandpaper, a file and a ruler, he assembled the corps for 4 evenings.

A small rosewood bar was used as a workpiece:


Due to the small thickness of the workpiece, it was decided to make the case in the form of a coffin with a lid:


In the process, I took a flash drive of a smaller size:

After the lid has been glued, it is necessary to bring it to a common base with the flash drive case:

After that, the tedious grinding phase is followed by sandpaper. Four sheets with a roughness of 400 to 1200 were used. Each sheet was processed two to three times. In between, the casing was wetted with a damp cloth in order to raise the smooth fibers of the wood:

After painting, the casing was placed under a glass to prevent dust from sticking:


Due to the fact that the first layer of varnish is absorbed into the wood , the case remains almost matte:


We grind it with sandpaper, cover it with a second layer, polish it with a soft cloth, cover it with a third layer, polish it and we get the final result:
