Philips SoundBar or Pontus in its purest form

A couple of months ago, a friend of mine happily informed me about the purchase of a new Philips music center. According to her, when she saw this miracle in the store and heard how it sounds, she could not tear herself away and went broke, having bought this device for almost 15,000 rubles.

Slightly prigeev from the price, I decided to delve a little on the Internet, on the subject of compromising information on this overgrown radio tape recorder.

Information from the official website states that the Philips SoundBar is a DVD home theater. Well, a movie theater, so a movie theater.
We omit the argument that he recognizes video only in the DivX3.x-5.x and Mpeg1-2 formats, it is not clear in which containers. Music only in MP3, WMA, with a bitrate of 32-256 Kbps and VBR. And that already calls into question its daily use.
We touch only on what is declared loudly and shamelessly.

    Quote from the official website:
“Relive the movie with great surround sound. With 100 W sound power, an integrated DVD player and subwoofer, and upscaling to HDMI 1080p, you can now enjoy movies with high image and sound quality without cable clutter! ”

Dust in the eyes. "... Sound power of 100 watts" - more on that below. "... built-in DVD player" - yes. "... improving quality to HDMI 1080p" - improving the quality of what? (where is the noun? who wrote this at all?). "... and without cable confusion" - i.e. Does the TV and network connect wirelessly?
    Now about the sound.
    We read the user manual:
“The rated output power of the amplifier is 2x50W.”
Attention question: How many columns give us?
    We read:
“The impedance of the speakers is 2x8 Ohms.
The driver is the driver, the basics are the 3 '' woofer (what is it?)
The driver, the tweeter is a 19mm tweeter (which is why and why it is measured in mm.?)
    Sensitivity> 83 dB / m / W ”

That's it. Not a word about the output power, although it is precisely it that is the main characteristic of the speaker. There is also no frequency response.
2x50 - this is how much the amplifier can output to the speakers, but we then hear not the amplifier, but the speakers.
With the same success, sausage producers can say "you will enjoy the taste of real meat!", Because in the production of sausages, meat is really involved. And though ... No, it’s participating, participating.

We read further about the characteristics of the amplifier:
"The frequency response is 20-20 kHz, plus or minus 3 dB" I

recall that such a quantity as the frequency response is characterized by the amplitude of the system output signal in decibels and the phase in radiansat various frequencies. Even if we assume that 20-20, these are “different frequencies”, and 3 are the same decibels, then where is the phase in radians? And in general, what characteristics of which amplifier are given, if there are several of them? (And there are several of them) For example, I am interested in the output amplifier, which just gives sound to the speakers. The characteristics of which amplifier are given, for me it remains a mystery. The frequency range of the output amplifier, which my ears from the speakers just accept, also remained a mystery.

I will not go further on the rest of the characteristics, although there are many questions there too - if you wish, you can familiarize yourself on the official website. To summarize the sad result:

They sell us a beautiful wrapper, masking a poop inside, enveloping it in beautiful phrases and loud statements. Now I probably will not be surprised even if I opened the case of an expensive device and saw last year's Chinese newspapers there in the form of isolation between the boards. Moreover, even if the consumer suddenly wonders what exactly is inside, they are given a lot of numbers, values and values, after which he should immediately understand the seriousness of the equipment and its nearness in technical matters, close the page with the characteristics and not open it again in order to avoid inversion brains. Meanwhile, the importance of that information tends to zero, but, on the contrary, important information is silent. Is everything really so bad that even scary to write about it? Is it really so expensive to cram an amplifier that produces at least 20 kHz? True, 50 W speakers may not even fit there.

Well, maybe I’m not right and this is not a turd, but what exactly is inside the case, only the engineers of the manufacturer know. Marketers, it seems, are holding consumers for sheep who do not understand anything and do not read anything.

    Or maybe it is?
