Jabber Client Overview for Java Mobile Phones (J2ME)
Recently, many have decided to switch to Jabber. And then the question arises which Jabber client to choose for a mobile phone? Not so long ago there was a review of existing solutions for Symbian 9. Unfortunately, not everyone has smartphones - therefore, I present a brief overview of Jabber clients for Java-enabled mobile phones.
Talkonaut is a free Jabber IM client with VoIP support (in the Java version via Callback), it also allows you to exchange text messages with users of MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and AIM networks. There is conference support, file transfer, traffic compression (Zlib). Of the minuses, the absence of history can be noted.
The developers are Yevgeny Korolenko and Ruslan Zalata from Tyumen.

Bombus - Jabber-client for mobile devices. Of the features it should be noted registration and management of an unlimited number of Jabber-accounts; add users to the ignore list, privacy lists, view and edit vCard, set priorities and message status, save history, compress traffic (Zlib). Among the functions are conference support, remote control of Jabber-clients, file transfer. As an alert, you can set the sound, vibration and light indication.
In addition to Bombus, there is Bombusmod The
list of differences of BombusMod:
Bombus is the best of all existing customers for J2ME mobile phones.
On the official website, a designer is implemented with the help of which you can make an individual assembly for yourself.

Nimbuzz - IM client allows you to chat with users of the networks Jabber, ICQ, Google Talk, Skype, MSN / Windows Live messenger, Yahoo, AIM, Gadu-Gadu, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Hyves. The client allows you to see the status and location of the interlocutor, leave voice and text messages, transfer files, backup the phone book. Of the shortcomings, there is no message history, no jabber conferences.

Jimm aspro - based on Jimm code. The project has just begun its development, therefore it is still in beta, but is developing quite quickly. There is no way to register an account, view information about contacts, clients, not convenient access to the conference.

There are also other jabber clients for mobile phones with J2ME support, but they are poorly functional or not supported by developers, for example:
MGTalk is a jabber client with support for some Google Talk features. There are no groups, it slows down when entering text, there are no conferences. The latest version of 2006.
miniFring- IM client with Skype, ICQ, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Twitter, Yahoo, AIM. There are no groups, you cannot watch an old contact, there is no conference support, you cannot configure a connection to an arbitrary server - only Google Talk.
