Flash on 99% of computers?

Adobe proudly announced that Flash Player is already installed on 99% of all devices connected to the Internet, including PCs, laptops, netbooks and mobile phones. Thus, it is the most popular software in the world.

Can you trust these statistics? If you look closely at the research methods , the answer is no.

The fact is that the figures were not obtained from some kind of network statistics system, but by the method of polling users (moreover, to a very specific audience, including through the Lightspeed service, in Russia - through GMI). That is, 4,600 respondents answered the question of whether they have a flash player installed. The results were extrapolated to 956 million devices, which, according to some expert estimates, now have access to the Internet. That is, the sample is 0.0005% and it is unlikely to be representative.

If you look at things objectively, it’s almost impossible to believe in the figure of 99%, because Flash is not available on new PCs, on many corporate computers, on many Linux systems, on the same iPhones, finally. Are all these devices together not gaining even one percent of the total number of devices connected to the network?
