
Nearly 90% of UK homes accept digital TV
According to Ofcom, the UK regulator, 88.2% of UK households received digital television at the end of September.
The quarterly report of the media regulator shows that compared to the same period in 2007, the number of digital receivers in the country increased by 3.1%. This means that digital TV is watched in 22.5 million homes in the United Kingdom.
In addition, by the end of September, 60% of households had two televisions that received a digital signal, which is 5% more than in the second quarter. A total of 72% of the country's television receivers show digital broadcasts, which is 3% higher than the previous quarter.
Ofcom estimates that more than 9.3 million, or 36%, of homes received satellite television in the third quarter. Paid satellite channels were watched by 8.8 million homes (93% of the total number of satellite customers).
