How to improve usability or what have we done wrong?

    Dear habraly people, please do not kick much, but your qualified advice and opinions on the design and usability of the main page of our site are very important to us . I would like to hear from you that I don’t like it, where gross usability errors were made, and how would you solve this problem? The target audience of Cars.ru is people who want to buy and sell a car, as well as find the necessary and useful information for car owners. In the near future, several large content sections will be added under this.

    In short, what we want to fix is: to improve usability and navigation, the perception of the page,
    more efficiently use the area for the announcements of the internal sections of the site,
    reduce the number of departures from the main page, effectively place blocks for the sale of advertising so that everyone is happy - both advertisers and ordinary visitors.

    We conducted a small survey among people of various interests and professions, asked what they did not like on our main page. Got pretty funny answers, here are some of them.

    “It would be nice to make less space for news blocks and search for ads, due to this, allocate space for blocks of other sections of the site. Leave only one general search in the database of ads, and not a bunch of search forms and fields that actually lead to a single search result. Everyone is annoyed by the abundance of blinking ads. ”

    Max, 27 years old, programmer:

    Honda advertising in the center infuriates. A set of categories with ads for sale, and in the middle - some kind of garbage. Doing the search is the same. I just want a list of all Audi Olroad, and here in the center is garbage.

    If I were a car owner and I would look for a car, I would say that in principle everything is conveniently located ... Only the enormous advertising banners on the right are enraging. Red is especially annoying ... Well, there’s still a lot of things ... Eyes run up ... The general impression? I can’t, this idiotic banner on the right distracts me ... Well, in my opinion everything is quite normal. It's nice that all brands of cars are listed in the alphabetical list at once.

    It looks like cars.auto.ru is something. UAZ-452 is not present. Some garbage pops up. Pictures of fuck machines are not needed in the news, they are too small - they only strain your eyes, you still can’t see anything. Headings and news should be on the sides. A form with the sale-search of cars upstairs. The only thing is, I do not know where you have advertising there. I have it chopped. The news of the day to remove the fuck, and the place will be full. On your right you see an advertisement - less to do. I would put something about McDonald’s there to make people angry. Such a huge clown Ronald, and such jumps and blinks: "only this month fillet-o-meat." And so it flashes in red letters. And the child is such with blooming joy of funny faces.

    I do not like it: a lot of small details, blinking banners, a rustic font. Everything is in a white field, without borders, so you don’t immediately understand where which ones are. And there is still no single style in the design. And I like it from a functional point of view: rubrication, a lot of useful information. Why do you have two search blocks: one on top and a double on the bottom? .. By the way, I like the second block: immediately looking for a new one or with mileage. I would more clearly separate the blocks - at least the side ones from the central one (“Urgent” and “Car dealership offers”). And the lower headings in the basement - I don’t know what to do with them. They are important, but they need to be tightened up :)

    Well, the site is like a site. I do not really understand. There are a lot of beeches. I just got Firefox on it :) And on top of a blue background - what? I thought it was a sale, but it goes below. I don’t understand where to look. Should one choose there and there? I mean, I understand that it is not necessary both here and there, but generally confusing. Design as design, such colors are often found right now. A lot of diverse information, it is not clear what the site is about. In general, it is not clear to whom this is all oriented at all. Who rummages in wheelbarrows - probably will notice that everything is crammed. And who doesn’t fumble - he knows only about auto.ru :) It's like my critical opinion) Colors are similar to loveplanet :)

    In the "Opera" did not fit circles from the survey. It is incomprehensible an empty strip from above. The news from above would be better divided into blocks for today, yesterday ... places like bulk. Everything is dazzling. A lot of options for underlining, font sizes ... And in general it’s quite variegated - you don’t get it right away. I suggest that you leave the search on top, and then add a megaslink to the news ... And it’s not so clear what’s where ... It’s bad that there are two searches. On the blue arrow is one, and then divided below. It is not clear where then it is better to search.

    In general, the impression is not repulsive - the site is neat, clean and modern. But it was hard for me to navigate on this page full of information - a little porridge made. Type of usability suffers. The logo “Kars.ru” disappears on the sheet, but this is bad - you find yourself in a noisy place, but you don’t understand which one.
