Art Center Pasadena, Yamaha and Rethinking

The silent green revolution begins, its center: Pasadena Art Center, California, USA .
One of the professors - Bumsuk Lim (Bumsuk Lim), waited a good moment in the development of technology - and started.
Based on his great love for motorcycles, he created the first official class of motorcycle design at the Art Center. As Bumsuk himself notes, this could turn into a full-fledged, working, Yamaha design program. Why not? Lim found that combining the underrated segment of the transportation industry with the future of green technology has produced remarkable results: enviro-motorcycles .
The first pilot version was made in April and, judging by the results that we see, this is the best way to develop alternative fuel sources without invading the zone of hungry car giants.
Subtract 4 wheels, seated passengers, a huge amount of occupied space; add the structure of the "motorcycle"; we get endless possibilities for re-mastering the planet Earth on a completely new vehicle. The task that Professor Lim gave his students: to create a motorcycle that is not on the market. We all see the result of the work, the task, in my opinion, has been completed.

Motorcycles have been around for 100 years; more than cars, and cause the driver extraordinary impressions of speed and power. “If you go down to the primitive,” Lim says , “then a motorcycle is a sign of freedom. We ride them because we like the wind rushing in the face, supple force, and the feeling of rapid movement. ” Unfortunately - there are undeniable shortcomings. Only 2 passengers, no big baggage, and the possibility of taking a bicycle with you is not mentioned at all. So, Bumsuk Lim told his students: “ What if ! What if you can change the flaws of a motorcycle into something that emphasizes the positive features of environmentally friendly technologies.”
“There are no barriers or barriers for a designer. A designer can create previously unseen forms and technologies, ”says Lim. It's hard to disagree with him.
The good news is: the plastic wardrobe trunks are over , it’s time to introduce a new one. The time has come to an end when we should be afraid for a change in our life style, the time has come when it is time to think about our own lives.
Unfortunately, the answer of most of us sounds like: " And in winter / autumn / spring what to do ?" Lim, in Russia, I think, have not been, and California is a warm place. Forgive him for not knowing geography.
But beautiful .

And here is the prototype that “student” Jake Loniak “invented”(Jake Loniak), 6 year. His project Deus Ex Machina (God from the car) is an electric, single, vertically parked, half-closed motorcycle. The first impression is that it is a futuristic science fiction robot, but “What if!”? What if you can combine a person with the "bones and muscles" of a motorcycle? We will get " biomechatronics ". A mixture of biology, mechanics, electricians and, of course, design.

Or maybe Deus ? Based on a nano-phosphate generator and a very capacious battery, an electric motor fires the machine up to 100 km / h in 3 seconds . The same record belongs, for example, to the famous Ferrari F50 and Ferrari Enzo. And in order to ride an hour, it takes 15 minutes to charge the beast, and not vice versa . In total, it will be possible to ride on “one tank” for about 3 days.
The only frustration is that the speed limiter is set at some 150 km / h .
I would be sincerely glad if something like that were launched into production in the next 5 years. It might have spilled over into something truly “green”, convenient, interesting, fast and beautiful. And, preferably, affordable.
