Mitac set its sights on the ultra-cheap PC market

The relatively noticeable success of barely starting its march on the planet, the inexpensive ASUS Eee PC laptop, probably does not give rest to the leadership of Mitac, which is very interested in looking towards the corresponding market for ultra-expensive PCs. Obviously, not out of idle curiosity, but with the goal of finding a warm place there.

Actually, Mitac does not hide this and openly talks about the agreement concluded with MIND, under which the parties will jointly participate in the production of computers of the lowest price range. Moreover, the tandem sees children aged 3 to 12 years as the main consumers of its future products. And given the fact that Mitac has considerable experience, and it is clearly not just about the children of Africa or India, Mr. Negroponte should at least think about a possible change in the strategy of the OLPC project, which on the one hand is already slightly crushed by the presence in the low cost market PC by ASUS.

However, analysts are inclined to the idea that the winner in this battle will still remain Intel, which has invested in projects Classmate PC, Eee PC and OLPC.
