WiMAX is included in IMT-2000 standards set

The Radiocommunication Division of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R) standardized WiMAX and included this protocol in the IMT-2000 set of standards.

This event was eagerly awaited by many operators and providers who had not previously begun to invest in the development of a new infrastructure precisely because of the lack of clear standards and equipment compatibility. Now, when the IEEE 802.16 standard, approved by the WiMAX Forum is approved "at the highest level", there are practically no obstacles to the development and implementation of the technology.
