Firefox 2.0 and IE7: Who Eats More?
Lifehacker has released test results that discredit the new Firefox 2.0 browser. A small test for "gluttony" showed that with respect to RAM, Internet Explorer 7's appetites are much more modest than competitor's requests.
After working for a day, IE7 "bit off" 60.816 KB of RAM, while the brainchild of Mozilla with the same number of tabs requested 191.832 KB for work. After both applications were left running overnight, the rate of “eaten up” memory in Internet Explorer rose to 168.280 Kbytes, and for Firefox 2.0 - up to 204.356 Kbytes.
However, not everything is so simple. Almost 250 thousand kB of RAM for Firefox 2.0 versus 296 thousand for IE7 - these are the results of a similar test published on Scobleizer.
