Roskomnadzor will not block Yandex.Video, but the claim of Gazprom-Media will remain in force
The other day, Roskomnadzor stated that following the results of the audit, the grounds for blocking Yandex.Video were not found: “The test carried out by Roskomnadzor specialists showed that there are no grounds for limiting access to the Yandex.Video service”.
On August 28, it became known that the Yandex service would be blocked. The Moscow City Court has obliged Yandex.Video to take interim measures on the complaint of four TV channels of the holding, including 2x2, TNT, Super, and TV3. After that, Yandex deleted both links to pages with video content and the content itself.
In addition, the company explained that they did not consider the requirements of the supervisory authority as legitimate, since Yandex is not in a position to determine whether a particular site has rights to this or that content or does not have such rights. Thus, the company cannot organize a filter that separates legal content from illegal content.
It is worth noting that the blocking of Yandex.Video could be the reason for the inaccessibility of all the services of the company, since most providers are able to block traffic only by the domain name - and in the case of Yandex it is yandex.ru. Representatives of the company have already announced that they will challenge the decision of the Moscow City Court.
At the same time, Gazprom-Media did not refuse its idea to sue the Russian Internet company. Representatives of Gazprom-Media have already stated that the claim for protection of content rights
"Will be filed within the deadlines provided by law." “If we do not submit it, the preliminary provisional measures will be canceled and the pirated content may again appear on Yandex.Video,” the representatives of the holding argued .
