YouTube announces support for online video streaming in 360 format and surround (binaural) sound
YouTube first announced support for video 360 in March 2015. Everything, from musicians and sportsmen to the largest brands, was fascinated by this technology and began to shoot their videos in the format of "video 360". The first here were Google - by shooting a horror film “Help”, not only in the format of panoramic video, but also with the support of binaural spatial sound.

Now the authors have even more opportunities - online broadcasting in the format of "video 360" allows you to "move" your fans right to the center of events!
Also, on April 18, YouTube announced support for surround sound. Under the cut details!
Many famous performers and museums in Russia have already made their videos "video 360". When viewing them, you can twist it with a mouse or, if you have a virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, Homido, Google Cardboard or others, you can be virtually on the stage among musicians or in a museum:
The first on-line broadcast in the “video 360” format on YouTube will also be the Coachella music festival . For several years in the usual format were broadcast for those who can not participate. But this year the broadcast will be what no one has ever seen!
On April 18, YouTube also announced support for surround (= binaural ) sound (on-demand for video). Surround sound enhances “immersion” in content - as in real life, where the depth of sound, the distance to the sound source and its intensity play an important role.
To understand what is being said - listen to this playlist . When the video is “rotated”, the sound also rotates - however, this feature is currently available only on Android devices.
In order to allow more and more authors to take advantage of such opportunities, YouTube is working with companies such as VideoStitch and Two Big Ears to make their software compatible with online video in the 360 video format and with binaural sound. These technologies are also available for YouTube Space.
The most exciting thing is that these technologies open up access to world experience for everyone! Students can now attend lectures in a new format, travelers can study hard-to-reach locations, researchers can dive into the depths of the sea, avoiding the physical difficulties of the real world. Teenagers who dream of going to a concert or a sports match will now have full access to these events, even if they are far from the venue! Everything that used to have limited access is now available to everyone, anywhere in the world, at any time!
