In the Norwegian school e-sports is introduced as an additional discipline

Now, in most schools in the world, computers are installed on which diligent students learn the wisdom of computer science. Of course, some manage to play if there is a free minute and a technical opportunity, but computer science lessons in schools are serious, there are usually no games. But Garnes Vidaregåande Skole , School of Bergen, Norway, is going to teach their students eSports. The relevant classes will start in August.

True, not all students will go to such lessons, but only 30, they will be chosen from the mass of those who wish. The total duration of classes will be 5 hours a week for three years. For the first time, a state educational institution introduces e-sports as a discipline.

Interestingly, students will not play all the time allotted for these classes. Not at all. They will also train for successful games. And this means the development of reflexes, strength, endurance. It is planned that the class will be divided into two teams during training, 15 * 15 people. According to the representative of the school, along with the knowledge and experience of games, cybersportsmen will gain communication, cooperation, and tactical thinking skills.

For classes, we have already allocated a separate class with hi-end computers where Nvidia GeForce GTX 980Ti video cards are installed. This is stated on the school’s Facebook page. Students will bring their own manipulators, keyboards and headsets to classes. Everything, as it should be in professional e-sports.

Most likely, games like Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or Starcraft II will be explored. The school will choose only two games from the proposed ones.

By the way, last year the Swedish school announced its intention to introduce similar classes into the curriculum. New trend?
