The first modular phone went on sale

At the sale there was the first modular mobile phone, Fairphone 2 . This is already the second product of Fairphone, and the first really modular smartphone available on the market. Almost any user with a little knack can independently disassemble it and replace one of the seven parts that make up the phone.
The phone consists of the main body, battery, display, rear camera, receiver, speaker and back cover. All these parts are quite easily separated from each other, without special skills or the use of complex tools.
The creators of the phone first of all want to take care of the environment. They try to use, in their expression, components from “non-conflict raw materials” (“conflict raw materials” are produced cheaply in areas with unstable conditions up to hostilities), and also strive to ensure that telephones, or at least some of their components, serve people as long as possible. Thus, according to their plan, humanity will be able to slow down the excessive use of valuable resources.
The phone’s display diagonal is 5.1 ", it has Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. The platform is Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. The phone supports two SIM cards. The device costs € 525. The
well-known company iFixIt is a Fairphone partner. In November, it received skilled hands an early copy of Fairphone 2 and confirmed that it can only be disassembled with one hand and a screwdriver. As a result, the smartphone received the highest rating on the repair scale, 10 out of 10 is more than any other tested phone was awarded.
The most famous and expected modular project sma rtfona is Project Arafrom google. This is not just a separate version of the phone, but an attempt to create an entire platform with open specifications for promoting the ideas of modular electronics. Project Ara pilot testing is scheduled for next year.
