Nexus Imprint: Fingerprint Identification for Nexus
The Android 6.0 operating system is the first of Google’s mobile operating systems to offer native fingerprint identification support. To demonstrate the new feature of Google’s operating system, it was necessary to create fingerprinting hardware, a system called Nexus Imprint. It works on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Using this system, you can quickly unlock the device or perform other actions that require user authentication.
A fingerprint sensor is located on the back of the smartphone. As soon as the fingerprint is registered in the system, you can unlock the phone using this pad by simply holding your finger on the pad for a couple of seconds.
Here you do not even need to turn on the phone with the button - everything works automatically. The touch pad is located quite conveniently - with a certain dexterity it does not even require turning the phone - the finger itself finds the desired point. This is much more convenient than the option of placing such a platform under the screen when you have to take the phone in one hand and put your finger on the other.
The system works so fast that you can forget about the power button to activate the device - one touch, and the phone “wound up”. If the phone is turned on, tap on the touch pad turns it off.
You can even train the system by adapting it to the structural features of your finger :) In other words, the algorithms adapt to the angle of the finger that is convenient for you.
If desired, you can add a fingerprint not only yours, but also your wife, relatives or friends (usually few people have such a desire, but you never know). Plus, you can register the fingerprint of the other hand, so that there is the possibility of alternative activation of the device.
Nexus Imprint can also be used to authorize mobile payments using the Android Pay system.
