Mozilla Releases Special Version of Firefox with Oculus Rift Support



    Users working with the Firefox Nightly browser version can now use Oculus Rift video glasses to test additional tools, WebVR API. The owner of video glasses can now view all sorts of virtual 3D objects directly in the browser. This can be, for example, a 3D model of the car in a 1: 1 scale, which was placed by the manufacturer.

    This may be part of the game clip, or the model of some new device provided by the developer. There isn’t much content on the Web right now that is intended for owners of video glasses. But this situation is starting to change as augmented reality glasses, virtual reality glasses become more and more popular.

    As you know, now, in addition to the Oculus Rift, several models of glasses from other manufacturers have appeared at once. There are original solutions, for example, Samsung Gear VR, where the display and the “brain” of the glasses is an additional device - in this case, Galaxy Note 4. Not so long ago, Microsoft introduced its Hololens .



    Provided that all modern browsers support WebVR, owners of Oculus VR, Gear VR, Google Cardboard and all other models of video glasses will be able to work with virtual content. To get started, you need to install a special version of the browser and install WebVR Oculus Rift Enabler .
