Google vs. Microsoft on the example of YouTube and Google Talk

On the very first day of the Google I / O conference, Google CEO Larry Page said he was frustrated by Microsoft's attitude to open standards: the company uses them, but does not share its developments with other market participants, which impedes the development of the entire industry. To which I received a peculiar answer from MIcrosoft, namely that in the coming days, Google Talk chat will appear in Outlook.com. The introduction of which will allow Microsoft account holders to communicate directly from their usual mail service with users of Google services. At the moment, chat support is limited only by text messages, there is no voice communication. In addition, Google Talk contacts will be integrated into Microsoft’s calendar and contacts,
But that is not all. Michael Straw told the blog that in the upcoming GDR 2 update for Windows Phone Gmail users will receive a small gift, namely Microsoft will introduce support for calDAV and cardDAV, which will allow you to use Google services despite restrictions from the search giant.
Quite a long time ago, Google announced that it would not support its own services and would not release its applications for the Windows Phone platform (there is one application, Google , which is more than far from perfect, despite the updates), explaining that its market share is small. But Windows Phone has already taken a stable third place and, apparently, does not stop, of course, maybe not as fast as we would like, but still.
Microsoft’s YouTube application , which was a link to the mobile version of the site, and quite recently after the upgrade, turned into a great application for viewing popular video hosting without ads and the ability to download video to a smartphone a lot of smiles and discontent at the time . From myself I note that the application is very good and began to overshadow the Metrotube, which I have been using for a long time.
And yesterday it became known that Google requires Microsoft to remove the application from the Windows Phone Store, since it violates the rules for using the service, which consists in the absence of advertising and the ability to download video materials to the device, despite the fact that such unofficial applications are in the same Play Market Microsoft, in turn, wrote a response letter asking them to give out all the necessary APIs for the possibility of displaying ads in accordance with Google’s requirements and in order not to deprive the Good Corporation bread,
Google of course can meet, but it can also release its own application or go for further confrontation with Microsoft. But the main thing is that only users will suffer and this is not the first time.
