What 100,000 Stars Look Like

As part of the Chrome Experiments project, the developers of the Google Data Arts Team created a beautiful demo “100,000 stars” , which shows the real location of more than 100 thousand surrounding stars relative to the Sun. Technologies used: WebGL, CSS3D, Web Audio.
By default, the map is centered on the Sun. If you zoom in, the signatures for 87 major stars are visible. The card can be centered on each of them, and rotated in any plane.
The general view of the galaxy is made in an artistic performance, and the coordinates of the stars are imported from the HYG astronomical database .
