Why is UniSender better than MailChimp?

One of the most common questions that we have to hear when discussing various email newsletter services is: “Why do we need UniSender when there is MailChimp ?” And it seems to us that the time is ripe for a thorough answer to this question.

And do not be confused by the title of the article =) It would be strange if we did not have an answer to this question. One could close the business and go home. In the end, both UniSender and Mailchimp have thousands of users — who, presumably, know what they pay for. Let's see: so, what can offer domestic service in comparison with the largest world?

    Functional

Let's start the main thing: UniSender allows you to do both email and SMS mailings. You cannot send SMS through MailChimp. Rather, there is a special additional system that, with skill, can be used. But sending SMS messages on the same base, with the same ease as mailing lists, will not work in MailChimp.

Both systems allow you to establish a chain of letters, embed the buttons of social networks in the newsletter. As for the functionality of split testing, naturally, it is also implemented in both systems. However, according to the test results, we were able to provide our users with the opportunity to do this in fewer clicks, although MailChimp has a very nice interface for selecting split test parameters, it looks like this:

But we have more opportunities to test various parameters, including the ability to select a parameter for manual comparison:

    Statistics

Statistics collection is implemented in both services quite colorfully. Here, in our opinion, it is difficult to choose who is better. You can look at statistics in the form of diagrams, or in the form of tables. You can watch the mailing statistics in live mode:

    MailChimp

    UniSender

Both services offer integration with Google Analytics, without which no marketing tool can be considered complete:

The choice of predefined templates in MailChimp is greater. Our answer to Chamberlain is the ability to order an individual template for your project. For a fee, of course.

    Segmentation

Both services allow mailing list segmentation. Segmentation in UniSender is possible in two ways: using labels and the recently introduced mechanism with advanced segmentation capabilities. The second method is a universal method that allows you to segment almost any task.

MailChimp allows you to segment by how often your client wants to receive emails. However, you can do this with us too: select the desired segment in a separate list and assign these lists different distribution frequencies.

    Corporate Solutions

We position ourselves as a solution for the corporate segment. It turns out that this is true: you can configure access for different employees with different rights within a single account. MailChimp does not allow this, which means that it will not be so convenient to use the service for a large company.

    Spam reports

Both MailChimp and UniSender take on contacts with the mail services to find out the reasons for your mailing list getting spam, if this happens. However, UniSender has a natural advantage in terms of working with Russian mail services due to long-established working contacts.

    Subscription form on your site

The services are similar in that they provide the function of creating a registration form, which can be placed on your site to collect leads.

    Free services

Both services provide full free accounts, that is, you can register and immediately start working.

    Account registration

In terms of organizing the start of work, each service has its own “cockroaches”: the

registration form at MailChimp is more complicated, in addition, you must specify the legal address of the company and the website. Until this information is provided, you will not be able to make mailings.

UniSender, in order to counter spammers, asks for the source of the mailing list. Usually, a check takes a couple of hours during business hours, after which the database will be updated and you can start work, or contact you to clarify any issues. Some users are worried about this, but we firmly believe that reputation is more expensive.

    Russian-language interface and support

We have already listed a number of significant differences between the services, but it is expected that the biggest difference will be in the usability of the service by Russian users. MailChimp does not have support in Russian. In addition, online support works during business hours based on the time of the other hemisphere. Our experts on the site exactly when you are working, and the interface is in Russian. In addition, we can quickly help you by phone if you are in Russia.

However, the MailChimp website has a simple ability to translate it using Google Translate. We played around, but more in order to have fun, because it turned out something like this:

For those who did not understand that the first picture is “Suport”. Doesn’t resemble anything? =)

True, you need to give MailChimp its due, they try: so, you can automatically translate the important components of the letter itself into a number of languages. However, without support during office hours and with an English interface, you still have to solve problems for the most part on your own, or via email.

In general, language benefits translate into the following:

    Paperwork for legal entities

Regional features do not end there: if you do large bulk mailings and use a paid account, with us you can pay with any available payment system (Quiwi, webmoney). In the case of MailChimp, you need a card, and then the card does not fit any. In addition, we will prepare for you the legal papers required for accounting in a generally accepted format. MailChimp does not have such an opportunity; you have to look for other ways.

    Issue price

Here we decided to just do the comparison table:

Just in case: prices MailChimp , UniSender prices .

    Summary

We have not forgotten anything? Oh yes, here is the instruction for importing your database from MailChimp ;-)
