Thermalright X-Silent 140
In the old metal case, after installing the terabyte, it became hot. However, it wasn’t particularly cool there before - however, after reading some comments , I decided to take care of my beloved elderly pieces of iron.
I did not want to change the case at all, so it was decided to mock the wall - cut a hole and install a case fan. Honestly, I didn’t specifically choose a model - I just came to the nearest store and asked me to show everything that is available. X-Silent 140 charmed with its size and price.
Specifications from the box:
Dimensions: 140x140x25 mm
Bearing Type: Liquid state
Start-up Voltage: 7.0 VDC
Rated Current: 0.14 A (Max)
Rated Power: 1.68 W (Max)
Rated Speed: 900RPM
Air Flow: 60.42 CFM
Noise Level: 20.9 dBA
Weight: 170 grams
Life Expectancy: 50,000 hours
We installed it in the front of the case, almost at the level of the installed hard drives, for blowing.
The kit includes comfortable rubber feet for mounting. The fan can be powered both from the motherboard and from the power supply (adapter included). I have it powered by the power supply, and from the external one, with a separate button, screwed to the wall behind the case (the external external power supply was originally conceived for external hard drives, but was not useful in this role).
He coped with his task perfectly. Below are the readings of the sensors (GKrellM) during verification of the recording of a DVD disc, i.e. when both the hard drive and the DVD drive are warming up quite noticeably.

AFTER installing a fan
I can’t recommend it, because he has not worked out the stated 50,000 hours :-) But if someone needs a very quiet budget fan, you should pay attention to this little thing.

Impressions
The fan is really very quiet . It is not heard at all, although my case is on the table, and not under the table. Due to the mounting on elastic bands, no vibrations are heard. He coped with his task perfectly.
