Annoying "Apple" - or how I got the job
It all happened about a year ago.
Then I still did not suspect that I have certain skills and qualities that may be applicable in the management sphere, perhaps, except for excessive self-confidence and arrogance.
But time teaches and, as they say, time is money. Therefore, I will go straight to the point.
At the institute, it was proposed to participate in one program dedicated to the creation or modernization of the site of an international company.
The essence of the project was as follows: my team of 5 people had to carry out a set of works that fully reveal the essence of giants such as "Apple" - our main choice and "Microsoft" - the main competitor.
The entire project was to be completed within two weeks using products such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Word, Power Point, and Photoshop. Project, as a product, of course, is not bad, but it was not very convenient for me as a project manager, because I had to spend a considerable part of my time on “taming” this program.
After “Project”, the entire project had to be transferred to “Microsoft Visio” with full block division (fashion trends) for each of the main processes.

As a result, all assigned tasks were equally distributed among all employees. Each person was responsible for his part and for its competent and thorough implementation.

The design took up most of the time allotted to us, and, as a result, the project won first place among 15 others. It was he who played the main role. In general, the design was carried out by a person who had an approximate idea of what Photoshop is. Nevertheless, all the members of the “high” jury are: president of NRNU MEPhI, dean of the faculty, etc. - marked him as the most interesting, beautiful and competitive.
At the end of the work, I compiled a summary for each of the participants in the working group. The project was noted and I, as the leader, received an invitation to work at the department No. 65 - “Analysis of Competitive Systems” (NRNU MEPhI).
And in the end, I would like to wish all beginning managers and everyone who is interested in this area - do not be afraid and try to prove yourself, show all your best qualities and skills.

- Introductory part - a description of two companies - the goals of creation, activity, products, etc .;
- The theoretical part is W3C principles and standards. We have chosen about 4 criteria for our site;
- “SWOT analysis” - “swapping” of “Apple” and “Microsoft” sites;
- Site map changes;
- Design is the longest and most laborious task for the entire project period.
Let's start in order:
- “SWOT analysis” is an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats)
The bottom line is to understand what is good, what is bad on that and on another site (based on those criteria that were selected in previous tasks).
This is where I first encountered the problems of the Microsoft Project - two employees did not complete the task by the deadline, and therefore I had to change the data in the program itself, and since everything was already written there, everything literally floated - dates, days, etc. .d., had to "reconfigure" - a very long and tedious.
As a result, on the basis of two SWOT analyzes for two companies, a general conclusion was written; - There was no task to create a physical site - in general, the whole project implied the very system of approach to site development, using available resources and obtained data, based on theoretical material. Therefore, we have proposed layouts of pages of the site of the company "Apple", or rather three sections - "Home", "iPhone", "Mac".
