Opinion about the e-book PocketBook 302
PocketBook 302
Turning in his hands for two weeks, he made up his own subjective opinion.
Pros:
- good build
- touch screen,
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- USB host
- gyroscope,
- Support for many book formats.
Minuses:
- glare screen
- relatively heavy weight
- relatively large size.
You can read more about the device on the manufacturer’s website , I will give some parameters.
The book has an E Ink Vizplex screen with a resolution of 600 by 800 pixels, a gigabyte of internal memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a USB host, a slot for microSD memory cards, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It all works under the control of the Linux operating system.
Available video from IFA 2009:
The touch screen is
not satisfactory, except for the fact that it is precisely because of this functionality that the overall display quality has deteriorated somewhat.
The control elements of the interface are enlarged, in comparison with other PocketBook models, you can safely forget about the stylus, pressing (and scrolling) with your finger does not require getting used to.
Reading
Nothing fundamentally different from other e-books. Of the additional amenities - the presence of a gyroscope, makes it possible to automatically (and, importantly, turn off) the rotation of the text. As with the PocketBook 360, books can be read at any position in the hand.
By the way, in one hand, in two - the book is very convenient; in the fields, on the sides of the eran, just thumbs are placed, they won’t climb on the screen itself.
Music
In my opinion, an e-book should remain a book, and nothing more. The ability to play MP3 files is, which is not unique. But the book cannot and should not compete with players or even mobile phones.
The only open question - podcasts - to me personally seems tempting. A device with good network potential may well acquire the necessary functionality in future firmware versions.
Network
As I mentioned in the line above, this device has very good network potential. Bluetooth is so far only used to connect to a modem (mobile phone), but you do not need more to read on the Internet.
We could not find any problems with Wi-Fi, except for some non-obvious connection configuration, which again, most likely, will be fixed with the release of new software versions.
To summarize: if you just want to read and, roughly speaking, not pay for additional functionality that will not be used, it may be worth taking a closer look at other devices. If you want to have something “for growth”, the ability, for example, to buy books directly from the device, to use network applications that will appear in the future, then you can now look towards PocketBook 302.
With the release of the model in wide sale, it may be worthwhile to make a full review like for PocketBook 360; although I personally find the value of such articles doubtful - without seeing the device live, little can be understood from a press release of any length even with photographs.
