Serious talk about VLC # 2

Continuing the topic " Serious talk about VLC "

    Under the cut:
    1. VLC Extended (the most pleasant little things that just please)
    • VLC Wall (View one video on 2 ... 81 (theoretically 9801) monitors)
    • We play Puzzle from the video we are watching :)
    2. Listen to Podcasts. Radio stations and redirect them to the stream.
    • We make our online Radio Station.
    3. Making " Screencast " Using VLC (Capturing a screen to a video file or broadcasting to the network)
    4. Send music data to your profile on LAST.FM (Audio Scrobbling)
    5. Starting VLC without a GUI interface (For and at the request of mPlayer fans )
    - View / convert / save video from Youtube .
... and a small hint for martyrs with Proxies on Windows. Well, a couple of answers to common questions that have been asked since the last publication.

    VLC Extended

Do you like to watch Movies on 2 monitors? not a question, but if you work in a digital electronics store, then you can watch it on all the screens placed on your shelves. No, no, you don’t need to install anything, because you probably already have VLC. This program will definitely allow you to watch the movie on 81 monitors, although it is possible to watch in 99 rows in width and 99 in length, which gives us 9801 screens, try to deploy everything on 1 monitor did not dare =)

How does this work for at least two, you ask ... I answer:
    - CTRL + E (Extended Settings) - Video Effects - Vbut / Overlay
    - Put a check on the Wall, your video will be displayed in the windows in the quantity (by default), change to the required number of fields, uncheck, and check the box again. Then we arrange each window on the desired screen and that's it.

I don’t know why they came up with this, but perhaps this fun element has already been repeatedly used for its intended purpose. For example, I probably would have taught children logic, making it possible to assemble a puzzle from the cartoon, which they could then normally see, with a sense of accomplishment. This is another interesting video effect with an interactive function - " Puzzle Game ".

    How it works:
    - CTRL + E (Extended Settings) - Video Effects - Vbut / Overlay

I did not go deep into all the delights of plugins and filters, you can try them yourself ( CTRL + E (Extended Settings)), I advise you to pay attention to the filter "Blurred motion", which works approximately like the fast movement of vampires and other evil spirits in slow motion. In addition, there are definition amplifiers and much more.

We listen to Podcasts and redirect them to the stream.

Recently there was an opportunity to listen to Podcasts, but it was clearly not a prominent feature after the release, and little was mentioned about it, but it’s worth paying attention to it:
CTRL + P, Show settings (All). Playlist - Services Search - Podcasts , and add a podcast feed.
    Then just go to
    - Media - Services Discovery - Podcasts (To download the added feed)
    - Media - Services Discovery - Configure Podcasts (To edit and add new feeds.)

If this is not enough for you, and you want to redirect one incoming podcast stream to another computer, or broadcast to a local network, then it’s enough to configure the podcast broadcast to the network (I will give an example on “http”, although “UDP” is recommended for this, so that listeners can just listen, and “http” was your remote control interface)
    1. After adding a podcast or a list of songs,
    2. CTRL + Y to save the playlist, which we will feed to VLC for further streaming.
    3. CTRL + S for Stream, and in the window that appears, add the playlist file and click Stream , - Next , - Here we think how we will broadcast, select UDP and click the Add button, enter the IP or host, and the port on which we will broadcast. Next, select the MP3 format if necessary, then configure it. After that, just click Stream .
    4. Then you should start the Web-Interface by going to View - Add Interface - Web Interface.

PS: in the process of creating all these steps, you can click on the Options button and pay attention to the generated code, which you can use on the command line or in the batch file. For Verification, I will show a screen from the web interface of the admin panel, which displays what is currently being broadcast.

    - In the same way, we can make our own radio station by feeding the VLC a pre-made playlist, or simply selecting a stack of audio or video files.

    - In order to access online radio stations and TV, you need to do the following ...
    1. Go to Media - Services Discovery - and select Shoutcast radio (tv) streaming
    2. After that, go to View - Playlist (CTRL + L) , here our podcasts and radio and video streams already live - we select and listen, and if you carefully read the last post on this topic, you can easily connect to listening via the Web interface and listen from an iPhone or PDA in another room or in the bathroom :).
2.1. Please note that you can load covers and filter radio stations with search queries.
2.2 Please also note that you can immediately start broadcasting the received radio stream to the network directly from the playlist.

    Making “ScreenCast” Using VLC

In order to shoot video from your screen, just do the following:
    1. CTRL + C, - Capture Mode (Desktop)
    2. Select the number of frames with which we will shoot. Next two times Next .
    3. In the section N ew Destination there are many possibilities where to put what we will shoot from the screen.
    - Save locally to a file;
    - Broadcast on the network ( It is possible to use for training remote employees or acquaintances );
and you can also broadcast over different protocols and save to a local file at the same time, if you have both the capacity and the channel.
    4. Next, select / edit the codecs and click " Stream ".

PS: If you check the Display Locally checkbox , this function will immediately open a video of what you are doing ( at the first start I was even scared when I saw many of my desktops going into each other = ) it might be useful to someone, but it gives additional CPU load.

Send music data to your profile on LAST.FM

Once again, we have the opportunity to demolish all unnecessary additional software, in this case LAST.FM Scrobbler.

Now VLC also copes with Scrobbling, the only trouble is I didn’t manage to test it, as I added on the article, I often found out that tracks appear in the profile and widgets for up to two days. Therefore, I’ll just explain how to run it on VLC and we’ll solve this.

Hit the CTRL + P . then ( Show Settings - All ) and go to / Interface - Control Interface - Audioscrobbler , that's all, specify the Last.fm login and password, save it, and the next time you start VLC will scribble your tracks.

    - FAQ
1.If you *** your VLC to such an extent that it does not work or the interface is not visible at all
    1. run it with the parameters:
    -I qt
    2. go to C: \ Users \\ AppData \ Roaming \ vlc \ vlcrc
there should be configs, edit or kill, VLC will recreate them.

    2. If you like Mplayer and want the same “non-GUI” VLC, then run it with the parameters:
    vlc -Irc
    either
    -Idummy
to start VLC as a Server without a GUI, use
    -Itelnet
For telnet, or for http, respectively
    vlc -Ihttp

    3. If you have a proxy, and you cannot enjoy all the delights of working online with VLC, whether downloading covers, listening to the radio, or scrobbling, then start VLC with the following parameters:
    --http-proxy=ваш_прокси:порт
    for example:
    vlc --http-proxy = 192.168.0.2: 8080
    3. How to start Logger, which I have on the screenshots
    -vvv --extraintf logger

PS:I didn’t go into all the details of the settings, and left the most interesting part for you to smoke, just directed in the right direction, if there are questions about the features and functions, then maybe we’ll open a blog on VLC, and then we can expand whenever possible / functions in full and with all comments.
I hope this information was useful to you.

UPD: I completely forgot, in VLC there is an option that allows you to use not embedded codecs but installed in the system (for example, k-lite and others.), Which, according to the developer, improves the quality of work with video, encoding / screencasting, and more. and to watch rips and regular videos, what’s in the program is enough.

UPD2: - VLC really plays / converts / saves video from Youtube,

    This is done as follows:
    1. To open the YouTube video for viewing, just press CTRL + N (Media - Network Stream) and insert a link of the form
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu1k34Tsi5ry

    2. To convert save, CTRL + S (Media - Streaming) - Network , insert the link, and then Stream into File or Convert .
