There are only a couple of positive reviews in the review, the rest is confirmation that not all of our Chinese friends manage to do well so far.

I will start with the characteristics indicated in the official press releases of the device:
• Processor: Samsung ARM S3C6410 667 MHz
• Screen: 7 ", touch, screen resolution 800x480 pixels
• RAM: 128 MB DDR RAM
• Storage device (ROM, on which the system is installed): 1 GB of flash memory
• Operating system: Ubuntu Linux
• Languages: Chinese / English (but in general any one can use regular Ubuntu on SmartQ)
• Memory cards: SD up to 32 GB (SDHC supported )
• Wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi 802.11b / g, Bluetooth
• Weight: 250 g
• Battery: 4500 mAh
Well, now my feelings are about using the device.
When reading data on SmartQ 7 on the Internet, it seems that this device is exactly what everyone dreams of - a fairly large screen, the presence of all the communications necessary for a mobile device (WiFi, Bluetooth) also pleases:
Ubuntu was chosen by the manufacturers as an operating system, which is good at first glance, because, if desired, and not even a lot of experience with Linux, very bright pictures are drawn about the unlimited amount of various software from the repositories.
But, from dreams, until I get back to the description. On the front panel there are 3 function keys - PgUp, PgDn and the maximize window key.
The screen, as I said, is large enough. Compared to the iPhone screen, it is simply huge and, in theory, reading, watching movies and surfing the Internet on SmartQ 7 should be very convenient. The
back of this tablet has a retractable stand that allows you to put it, for example, on the table when watching movies.
On the top of the device there are three more buttons - Power, the screen rotation button and the button that extinguishes the screen (on the device I got for testing just like that, but on the forums I met other functions of the last button). There is also a microphone, which practically does not differ in quality of sound recording from the microphone in modern budget laptops.
At the bottom there is a reset button, a slot for memory cards and a hole for the stylus closed with a rubber stopper:
On the side there is a headphone jack, USB Host for connecting any devices (mice, flash drives, keyboards, modems); USB OTG (from On-The-Go) for connecting a tablet to a computer as a USB flash drive and card reader for SD; and a connector for the power supply. By the way, it is not at all clear why this separate power connector is made if the device is normally charged from a USB charging cable for a Nokia phone. Why not take the same 5V from the more common miniUSB 5p (USB OTG)? This would allow you to charge the device during synchronization with a computer or laptop and not carry a bulky power supply with you, but charge directly from USB. Fortunately, this imperfection is solved very simply - by soldering two wires from the USB connector to the power connector (round).
Because of the not at all sensitive screen, using the on-screen keyboard is a real torment. For the same reason, the crappy TouchQ SmartQ cannot be used without a stylus, which is also not an ice.
In general, the first thing I did was connect the keyboard and climbed into the Internet:
Due to the fact that the screen has a sufficiently high resolution, the sites look good, but the fact that the browser is shamelessly slows down brings all the joy to nothing ...
Inside this device, nothing super interesting was found
Apart from a healthy 4,500 mAh battery. The battery in SmartQ 7 is perhaps the only thing that pleased me. The manufacturer claims about as much as 48 hours of battery life, but even if this time in reality will be even less than half, then all the same, not bad.
Well, now some more of my feelings from using this Internet tablet.
Well, about the worthless touchscreen, I already said. Now about performance. No words - everything slows down very much. Launching the opening of the application is more difficult than the console in 5-7 seconds, which I think is a lot.
It is very difficult to cope with the Russification and installation of additional software for a user who did not work with ubuntu - there is no normal support from the manufacturer, there are no official repositories either. Ubuntuvody probably thought - "so what, because you can put any Ubuntovsky package." Yes, it’s possible, but there are several problems - the first is not a standard screen resolution, the second is just imagine, you will have to use this application without a normal keyboard and a normal mouse poking at an insensitive screen with a stylus and add some more braking due to a weak processor ... It will turn out not to use but a mockery.
Many forums say that WinCE and Android work much faster, but initially they are not installed on the device. There is no official Android for SmartQ, but for WinCE you need to pay an additional $ 18.
In general, this Internet tablet cannot be called a “device for people”, it’s rather a gadget for file lovers with very strong nerves and a lot of free time. In conclusion, I will say that for the money that you have to spend on SmartQ 7 (which is $ 189 + shipping costs), it is better to buy the simplest netbook - it will have usability 100 times better and the pleasure of using it will be 300 times more.
